#1000Speak For Compassion
So many different voices, so many different ideas all coming together to collide on one day, TODAY! Maybe if we can fill the World with love for just this one day…who knows maybe, just maybe, it will be the beginning of the change we all need.

Take away the hate, the prejudices, and the violence and in its place put in love, compassion and empathy and imagine what that would look like. It’s time to make a change and what better way to start…
WHAT DOES COMPASSION MEAN TO ME?
It means taking care of people and animals who can’t take care of themselves.
It means to run towards trouble instead of away and do whatever you can to make it better.
It means to treat people the way we would want to be treated. Respect ourselves and each other and most of all put good into the World instead of bad. Be a positive impact, not an implosion.
Take your head out of your computer or phone and really look at the world around you. What can you do to make it a better place? How can you help? There are lots of ways…

Check on an elderly neighbor, friend or relative. Sit and visit, shovel their driveway or mow their grass.
Remember a caregiver in your life. Take them lunch, give them some respite time or just call and tell them you are thinking of them. It’s a lonely life, be a friend.
Help a new and overwhelmed mom. Watch the babies and let her take a shower, a nap or just a breather.
Help a hurt friend, walk their dog, get their mail.
Stop when you see someone broke down on the side of the road. Be safe but also be helpful.
Walk for a charity or get donations another way, have a car wash or bake sale.
Donate school supplies to your local school.
Donate baby items to your local N.I.C.U.

There are as many ways to show compassion as their are people sharing those ideas today over 1200! Whatever you do just make a choice. Choose a way and make a positive impact on someone in some way. Look around you see a need and fill it. It doesn’t matter how, it just matters when. If we fill the world with as much compassion as we can… can’t we make a difference? Let’s all give it a try. I will…will you?
Remember to:
Appreciate the good, laugh at the crazy, and deal with the rest.
I love you momma!
Hi Rena,
I amd also participating in 1000 voices and really appreciated your post.I had two grandparents who had Alzheimers and it is a weird journey. It didn’t really worry me too much that they didn’t remember me all that much but that they forgot themselves as well and their personalities slowly faded. In the end, I was just ecstatic when my grandfather smiled…such a cheap thrill.
I’ll be doing a follow-up post to 1000 voices in the next days.
Take care & best wishes,
Rowena

Thank you so much for your kind words Rowena! I’m very sorry about your grandparents it’s a hard thing for any family to go through and watch. I understand about your grandfathers smile it means more than most people realize. I can’t wait to read your post! I’m heading there now!
Thank you.
“Treat people the way we would want to be treated.”
Something we often forget.
Thankyou for sharing 🙂
Thank you! It’s so true one of the “Golden Rules” that seems to have been left by the way side. Maybe all these compassion posts will inspire others to remember!
Hope so 🙂
“…who knows maybe, just maybe, it will be the beginning of the change we all need.”- AMEN.
These are all great ideas, Rena. Love and compassion is something we all need more of!
That’s so true Donna! Thanks so much for commenting.
Hi Rena! I’m so happy to be joining you in this #1000speak project of sharing compassion around the world. AND I find it incredibly interesting how we can all share different aspects of this incredibly powerful force for good. Thank you ! ~Kathy
I agree Kathy! I have been reading so many today and no two are alike that is amazing! I’m headed to yours very soon! Thanks for commenting!
I hope that you will be on the receiving end of compassion, too. Being a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer’s is not an easy task. Thank you for this post to remind us to do something.
What a beautiful post Rena – sharing this every way I know how today!!
Love this post, love your list, love your tweets and love the author!
Perfect examples. Whether the gestures are large or small, they all are a step in the right direction.
This is such a beautiful posts that reminds us of the many ways to be compassionate and better lives!
So, so true. “The gift of time” was something a former principal of mine used to say, and it can be one of the most powerfully compassionate gifts we can give.
Great suggestions, Rena! I’m sure that as a caregiver, you are an epitome of compassion on a day to day basis. We really have to collectively see each other as souls, connected souls, in order to be able to open our hearts to others. And yes, our acts of compassion don’t have to be anything big to change the world. I am a believer that the slightest energy, good energy I hope, can shift things around us. Thank you for all the reminders!! Great post and great group of compassion writers today! xoxo
These are beautiful ideas. Such a powerful movement!
Lovely suggestions, Rena! And, I would add you as a perfect example of a very compassionate human being! <3
Yes. SO many beautiful ideas and thoughts here. I <3 this movement and love that we're all participating!!
I love every one of these, Rena. So beautifully said. What a difference a small act of kindness can make in the world!
The small acts mean so much to those receiving them at the time. When my neighbor found out that he has cancer, I wasn’t sure what to do so just brought over a basket of goodies and sat and talked. He was so thankful and it was a wonderful experience for both of us. Great post Rena!
Beautiful post, Rena – just as I knew it would be! Your examples are wonderful – practical things that pretty much all of us can do. Thank you for being part of #1000Speak. I am part of it, too and feel so honored to be a “voice” speaking today in unison with you and so many other “voices” – all for the cause of compassion. What a wonderful cause this is! What a wonderful day this has been! 🙂
Excellent post. Love the quotes. Having been born visually impaired, I rely on compassion from others daily. I hope to give it back and return and that is why this whole thing has been so important to me.
I love your ideas, Rena. A small act of kindness goes such a long way. I hope #1000Speak continues to grow and inspire.
Rena, your life is a lesson to all of us in compassion. Caring for your mom is such a courageous act. You didn’t even need to write a post. You’re your own best example.
You are the perfect person to speak about compassion! Putting good into the world, instead of bad, is such a powerful statement. Thanks for all the suggestions!
