Alex’s Lemonade Days

This post originally aired on May 27th, 2015, but the time is here once again so I decided to share this post in the hopes to bringing some much needed attention to this wonderful cause.

Fighting Childhood Cancer, One Cup at a Time.

Every year for 3 days during the second weekend in June, a huge movement to support children’s cancer gets underway.

ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND FOUNDATION (ALSF) Alexandra Scott was an amazing little girl who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer when she was only a year old.

While lying in her hospital bed after a stem-cell transplant she told her mother that she wanted to have a Lemonade Stand when she got out of the hospital to help other kids just like her. You can read Alexandra’s story here. It is such a moving story that is really worth reading!

True to here words, with the help of her big brother, she had her lemonade stand and raised $2,000 for “her hospital”. She was only 4 years old at the time. In 2004, at the age of 8, little Alexandra passed away but she died knowing that she had raised over $1 million dollars for children’s cancers!

Even though Alexandra is no longer with us the movement is still going strong. So, the second weekend in June, for 3 days every single year, people gather together to hold their own lemonade stands to raise money to fight children’s cancer.

Since Alex’s first lemonade stand there have been over 20,000 lemonade stands to raise awareness and money to fight against all pediatric cancers.Hopefully, you are asking yourself “How can I help out with this great cause?” Well, let me tell you how!

1.) Go to Alex’s Lemonade (alexslemonade.org) and make a huge  any donation, right now.

2.) Have your own lemonade stand and raise money to donate to the ALSF. Go to LemonadeDays.org and register by June 5th and request a free fundraising kit!

3.) Share information on all of your social media platforms using the hashtag #LemonadeDays.

4.) Join @AlexLemonade tomorrow on May 28th for a Twitter party 1pm – 2pm ET using the #LemonadeDays hashtag!

SO LET’S DO WHAT WE CAN TO FIGHT CHILDREN’S CANCER!

FIND A LEMONADE STAND THE SECOND WEEKEND IN JUNE OR BETTER YET HAVE ONE OF YOUR VERY OWN! IF NOT PLEASE DONATE TO HELP FIGHT ALL CHILDREN’S CANCERS AlexsLemonade.org!!!!

Appreciate the good, laugh at the crazy, and deal with the rest! I love you momma

You know, having lost my brother, that fighting childhood cancer is a charity I support. I love this lemonade stand movement. So much positivity in honor of a brave little girl.

Thanks for this. My 11 year old daughter lost her friend to Cancer last year. It was such a hard thing, but her teacher found a letter she wote about my daughter saying what a great friend she is and helped her so much. What a great way to create awareness and funding.
