How Home Safety Is Being Revolutionized by AI Smart Home Devices

How Home Safety Is Being Revolutionized by AI Smart Home Devices

Artificial intelligence (AI) has gradually been taking on a greater and greater role in modern life, both personally and professionally. Stronger, more efficient AI is finding a variety of new applications every year, included in everything from on-demand app development to data collection. That’s one reason why the percentage of businesses that use AI is expected to double in 2018.

Home security, in particular, is being substantially affected by advances in artificial intelligence. Machine learning and other exciting new technologies are supporting more traditional home security measures to create systems that are more sophisticated and powerful than ever before. These are a few of the most important developments in home security AI.

Smart Locks for Security and Convenience

While traditional keys can possibly be lost, stolen, or damaged, modern smart locks are able to work without the use of a physical key. In fact, many locks can now be controlled simply by using a mobile application. These new systems can even give you the opportunity to allow specific individuals to unlock the door.

Cameras with Artificial Intelligence

Surveillance cameras are among the most popular home security measures, and with good reason: more than half of all burglars consider visible cameras when selecting a target. While many methods are capable of increasing your safety during an emergency, security cameras may be the best at deterring potential intruders.

In addition to their traditional function as a feed of HD video, many modern security cameras are capable of analyzing faces to determine whether a given person is a threat. They can also notify the homeowner in the case of open or broken windows and automatically sound an alarm during emergencies.

Compatibility with Smart Home Devices

While the Internet of Things is still in its early stages of development, it’s already experiencing rapid growth. By 2019, in fact, over two-thirds of all consumers will have purchased home devices connected to the IoT. It’s become increasingly simple to link a variety of devices in your home using artificial intelligence.

Many home appliances and devices can even be operated remotely using an app, including both cameras and locks. Setting your lights to turn on and off at specific times is another great method of deterring theft while you’re away. AI puts all of these possibilities at your fingertips, giving you more control over your security.

Every industry has been affected by the growth and improvement of artificial intelligence, and home security is no different. Adding smart devices to your home is an efficient and cost-effective way of keeping your property secure. Even better, there are more exciting AI devices being developed and released every year.

One of the greatest things about the latest innovations is that the elders could really benefit from it, not just the “techy” people. Smart lock and AIs could really be of help to them and make their homes better for their living.

My wife just found out that her cousin’s neighbor’s house was broken into while they were gone. It really got her thinking about home security and upgrading her current locks for the house. It was interesting to read about how some smart locks can now be controlled through a mobile application. Being able to open or lock a door while you’re away could be very handy. Finding an experienced locksmith would probably be the best resource to having them installed.
